Artist Mission Statement
I’m on a journey to discover
“How to See”
……color…….form……motion……emotion and how they relate to each other. Our eyes and brain miss so much …unless I am willing to pause and look harder and deeper at the miraculous wonders that I experience every day.
My favorite subject is the human body . I find the body fascinating, the bone structure, how our skin drapes … the character that shows in ones hands or face telling their life story.
Putting Ink to Paper or Paint to canvas is an attempt to capture what I see and share it. If you enjoy the picture or graphic ..You have joined me on a road in my journey.
Artist Statement
Frank Duane Chomout
When I was young, I wanted to be an artist. I studied art in High School, but choose to study engineering at the University of Houston where I also attended Graduate school. During my engineering career, the left side/right side brain thing was going on and I still had a desire to paint, but there seemed to be no time. Then, in the mid 1990’s, I began painting with my mother, who was an artist in her own right. A short time later she succumbed to cancer; her passion and her artistic gift led me to cultivate the artist in me. A Christmas gift from my wife allowed me to study and rekindle my interest in painting. When I paint, the engineer in me says that this should be exacting as to form, structure and color, and the artist in me says – throw that color on the canvas. My work will always be evolving (as it should be); my style and palette will always be developing (as it should be). I look for challenges associated with my art so that I may grow artistically. I will never be finished growing as an artist. One of the greatest rewards is to put paint on a canvas, and have a viewer say – that’s not bad.
